intramuros, manila

it's been revived!!! my blog, that is. let's just say i have a bit of time on my hands this week, and perhaps more with the upcoming long holy week :) i have not been shooting much for quite a long time and when opportunities come, i would try to grab them as much as i could. last saturday was one of those breaks when a friend from work popped the obligatory statement, "let's shoot on saturday - 4AM - at Intramuros".. of course, for those of you who actually know me, i would naturally say, "what?! 4 freakin' AM?!". lol. and so i went. there were three of us who made that valiant effort to wake up at 3:30AM and meet up an hour later at intramuros, manila. it was NOT an easy feat, for me at least. last time i woke up this early was a few years back when we had to drive up somewhere north!
so anyways, with all the hoola about prepping up so early to shoot, i came a bit unprepared. it was still dark and we were meant to catch the blue hour. thanks to the tripod i borrowed from a friend, it had no plate :| so i ended up using a cute tiny tripod and tried to take turns with my hobbyist friends.nope, no tripod.. HA! ok, i think a pavement shot would work. eek.
finally, a crack at using a tripod (thanks, mike!) this is probably the only one in my set that i felt happy about :) bye bye twilight after this one.
day break. intramuros is rising up to a beautiful saturday :)
how thrilled was i to see the light (no tripod needed!!!) and took a few shots of the manila cathedral once again.
i capped the morning with a shot of the tower.
i guess i can say that, yes, there will be a next time :) it was amusing to finally shoot these kinds of subjects again. when that next session comes, i'd most want to be prepared.. lol. more than anything else though, it was a pleasure to see manila in a different light, capturing some of the details that a handful of us usually take a blind eye to everyday.
